Featured competitors confirmed for this year's competition

We would like to welcome Erik Linder and Rickie Taylor for their 5th consecutive year participating at the Northwest DanceSport Championships. Erik & Rickie placed 1st in Pre-Teen I Bronze Latin and Standard and Pre-Teen I Silver Latin and Standard at the 2008 USA DanceSport Nationals in Baltimore. Erik and Rickie also appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show; "Worlds Most Talented Kids", where they danced the Jive; and “America’s Got Talent”. They were also featured on Television News, Northwest Afternoon, Inside Edition, Eric Johnson's Little Heroes as well as American Dancer Magazine. We are pleased to welcome Erik and Rickie back to the 2009 NWDSC. This will be This will be Nels Petersen and Theresa Kimler’s 6th consecutive year participating at the Northwest DanceSport Championships. Our friends from Minnesota recently placed 1st in Adult Championship Smooth at the 2009 USA Dance Nationals. We are pleased to welcome Nels and Theresa back to the 2010 NWDSC.  

Free Admission Drawing!
Everyone reserving a hotel room within our block of rooms by September 23, 2010 will automatically be entered in our drawing for one free admission to all competitive events at the 2011 NW Dancesport Championships on Saturday and Sunday.

Rule Changes - New This Year
There have been rule and dress code changes. Go to USA Dance DanceSport Forms & Resources web page to learn more about these changes. Questions related to rule and dress code changes for the Northwest DanceSport Championships dance competition please e-mail Michele Boyer at qfb@o2cm.com. The following rule changes are of special note:

  • Adult, Youth, Junior and Pre-teen Syllabus Levels are NOT PERMITTED to wear costumes. Senior syllabus may wear costumes.
  • A competitor may not compete in more than two consecutive proficiency levels within a dance style and age category. Please note that Novice is now between Gold and Pre-Champ and couples entering Novice may dance only Gold and Novice or Novice and Pre-Champ.
  • Specific costume rules for this competition are posted under Competitor/Costume.

Qualifying Event for the 2011 USA Dance National DanceSport Championships!
This DanceSport competition was hosted by the Seattle Chapter of USA Dance and is a qualifying event for competitors seeking entry into the USA Dance National Championships that will take place in April 2011. United States National titles and the opportunity to represent the United States at the IDSF World Championships are awarded at the annual USA Dance National DanceSport Championships.
